Trash and data recovery
How deleting works everywhere in MAZZA: soft-delete, trash, and restore.
When you delete something in MAZZA, it is not gone right away. Most records move to a Trash for that section, where they sit for 30 days. During that window you can restore them with one click. After 30 days, MAZZA removes them for good. This page explains how that works and which records are protected from permanent deletion.
Deleting is reversible by default
MAZZA uses soft-delete. Deleting a lead, client, booking, or vehicle does not erase it. It hides the record from your normal views and moves it to that section's Trash. The record still exists, so you can bring it back.
Each section keeps its own Trash. You reach it from that section in the dashboard.
| Section | What goes to Trash |
|---|---|
| Leads | Deleted leads |
| Bookings | Deleted bookings |
| Clients | Archived clients |
| Fleet | Deleted vehicles |
Clients are archived, not deleted
In the Clients section, the action is called Archive rather than Delete. It works the same way: the client is hidden, kept for later, and can be restored. This wording is on purpose, because a client often has call and booking history you do not want to lose.
Restoring something
Open the Trash for the section, find the record, and restore it. It returns to your normal list exactly as it was.
Open the section's Trash
Go to the section (for example Leads or Bookings) and open its Trash view.
Find the record
Trash lists records with the most recently deleted at the top.
Click Restore
The record comes back to your active list, exactly as it was, with its details and links intact.
Edit after you restore
A record in Trash is hidden from your normal views. To change it, restore it first, then make your edits in the usual place.
Permanent deletion (purge)
Inside Trash you can also delete a record for good. This is a separate, deliberate step: you open the Trash, choose Delete, and confirm. MAZZA asks you to confirm because purging cannot be undone.
Purge is permanent
A purged record is gone. There is no Trash for purged items and no second recovery step. Use Restore unless you are certain you want the record erased.
If you do nothing, MAZZA purges Trash for you. Records are removed automatically once they have been in Trash for 30 days, unless they are protected (see below). Each row shows a small countdown badge with the days remaining. The badge turns red when 5 days or fewer are left, so you can see what is about to go.
What cannot be permanently deleted
Some records are kept as a permanent audit trail. They can sit in Trash, but they will not purge, not by you and not by the automatic clean-up. This protects the history behind your real customer activity.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Leads from a real callProtected | A lead created by the voice agent from an actual call stays as an audit trail and cannot be purged. |
| Bookings from a real callProtected | A booking the voice agent made on a real call is kept and cannot be purged. |
| Active bookingsProtected | A booking still set to pending or confirmed cannot be purged. Cancel it first, then it can be removed. |
| Vehicles with active bookingsProtected | A vehicle still tied to pending or confirmed bookings cannot be purged. Cancel or complete those bookings first. |
| Clients with historyProtected | A client with any call or booking history cannot be purged. The history stays intact. |
For these records, Trash is a tidy-up tool, not a delete tool. They are hidden from your day-to-day views but kept safely in the background. The Delete button on a protected row shows a lock instead.
Locked is not the same as gone
A locked record is hidden from your live views but kept safely on file. You lose nothing. The lock simply means MAZZA will not erase a record that is part of your history or still in use.
Frequently asked questions
How long do I have to restore something?
30 days from when it was deleted. After that, MAZZA removes it automatically, unless the record is protected as an audit trail.
Can I get back something that was already purged?
Once a record is purged, it is permanently removed and cannot be restored from the dashboard. If you need something urgently, contact our team right away, but recovery cannot be guaranteed after a purge.
Why is the Delete button locked on some rows?
That record is protected. It is either tied to a real call, still active, or part of a client's history, so MAZZA keeps it on file as an audit record. You can still move it to Trash to tidy your views.
Does deleting a lead delete the call it came from?
No. Call records and the lead's history are kept. A lead created from a real call cannot be purged at all, exactly so that history is preserved.
